Heather Brostron, primary directress (preschool/kindergarten teacher) at OakHaven Montessori School in O’Fallon, MO, demonstrates to a group of parents how the addition bank game (or collective exercises) works. Preschool and kindergarten age children (in OakHaven’s primary program) have fun working with this game, which enables them to:
- experience a sensorial impression of addition (or subtraction, multiplication, division or long division)
- see the function of the decimal system
- understand the necessity of exchanging because of the limitation of nine numbers
