Sometimes, Parents Just Don't Understand

It's true. As parents, we sometimes like to believe that we know more than we do. The reality is, there's a lot we may not understand when it comes to our children. The bigger truth is that, unless you attended a Montessori school as a child, there's even less you may know about your child's education.

Yes, you can do your research and read about Maria Montessori and the Montessori method (which we encourage you to do). You can also observe your child in the classroom; which, by the way, is a critical component of supporting your child in their Montessori journey. One of the more important steps you can take to better understanding your child's educational journey is through parent education. Parent education is key in a Montessori community. A quality Montessori program will offer multiple opportunities for parents to learn, ask questions, understand, and engage. We introduce and talk about the areas of the classroom, give lesson demonstrations, and allow parents to be hands-on with materials.
