Summer Camp at OakHaven
The first week of camp just flew by, and what fun we’ve had already! This summer we’ve already welcomed 5 new children to our school, and it’s been a joy getting to know each of them. As always, campers here have enjoyed the variety of activities OMS has to offer - Montessori mornings, water play, crafts, outdoor adventures on our spacious natural playground, Kona Ice, and special visitors every day.
Ms. Peggy, Ms. Lily, and Ms. Ginae spend the first few hours of each day giving children new lessons and helping guide them through all a Montessori environment has to offer. We love that the children are able to continue this important work throughout the summer and that our newest friends get a chance to become acclimated to the classroom before the start of school this fall.
Running through the sprinkler and splashing in the water table is a great way to stay cool on these hot summer days! Ms. Elizabeth and Mr. River have also created many fun camp activities that the older children get to do each afternoon while the younger children rest. After just one week, they’ve already had a blast making turtles, suncatchers, pirate puppets, and more!
So far we’ve had visits from the O’Fallon fire department, Kona Ice, and Imagination Pottery. We’ve also been very fortunate to receive a lovely cultural presentation from an OakHaven parent, and some fun craft time with an OMS alumni. Many thanks to all of our guests and visitors for so generously sharing their time and expertise!
